Ah, my total fever-dream of a book, written at the height of lockdown while simultaneously trying to homeschool two primary-age children. But this book was my escape. Xav, Ed, Leni and Maxine live in a crazy, hyper-realistic world. As I wrote, the world outside was in turmoil. Statues of former “heroes” were being toppled, lip-synching TikTokkers were becoming like gods and young people were in meltdown mode trying to figure out who they were and how they felt about it all. All of that fed into this twisted little thriller, and made it a little bit weirder.
