Behind the Scenes…
This was my first published fiction! When I first heard about the competition I had some serious story in mind with a very heavy theme, but at the time I was preparing for my own wedding and couldn’t concentrate on anything else. So I wrote a quite ridiculous but fun story about a very controlling bride and a group of bridesmaids who hatch a ridiculous plan to escape her reign of terror. Well, it made me laugh. I got to meet the other winners at a brilliant book launch on the South Bank – I finally felt like I was on my way to becoming a published author.
“I know, officer, it’s most irregular isn’t it? I can understand why you’d want to check it out. After all, when you find someone handcuffed to a lamp post wearing a gorilla suit it’s usually a man, right? Some poor stag with over-enthusiastic mates. I bet you didn’t expect to lift that ape mask and find the respected finance director of an international company.”
